Manufacturer of Pollmann plucked string instruments. Importer of variety of instruments including "the Royal, Crown, Star, Iron Cross, and X brands of violins." Offered brass instruments in four classes "Light action, Professional, Artist, and Solo Artist". Offered various type of engravings on brass instruments: "Vienna" with a small song bird sitting on a branch below a garlanded shield with Pollmann's name in it; "London" with a heron in a marsh below a banner with Pollmann's name on it, and engravings of leaves on a stem on the shepherds crook, and much of the other tubing; "Paris" has a stylized grape vine, with a bunch of grapes, and above is a completely different plant, and an ornamental garland with Pollmann's name in it (suggestive of French Rococo design); and "Berlin" with plant sprig (suggestive of 3-leaf clover on a vine) and top (completely different plant), and with a trumpet-like object extending from above the banner which contains Pollmann's name. "Rome" style has banner above lily-like somewhat simple design, with name in banner. "Boston" is a circle of single pointed leaves with name engraved without any additional features. "Florence" looks much like Berlin, except Florence has small dots in the floral engravings, where as Berlin has no dots, but does have curly almost pea-like vines. "Naples" has name in a rectangular box, and with 3-leave plants above and below. "Venice" is somewhat similar to Boston. Both are garlands of leaves surrounding the name. Venice has 3-pointed leaves, where as Boston has only single pointed leaves. "American" is the easiest to identify. It has an American Eagle above the U.S. flag, and the Liberty bell below that. Flowers and leaves finish off the design. "New York" has engraving on almost every inch of the tubing. The design on the bell has acorns, leaves, and the name in a chevron border. Even the button caps are engraved. "Opera" has a lyre between springs of leaves, and above is the name in a flag-like feature, with leaves and other ornamentation above, to the sides, and below the lyre. Another design was shown (p. 102) without any name. The design has copious branches of leaves, with the name in a circle of lines. Other designs also appear in the book that are not identified.
